Corn Maze at Dusk

The corn is over your head, so you can only see the row you are standing in. Find the punch posts, keep your bearings, and be out at the pumpkin patch before the light is gone. Your five punches are a puzzle waiting for you at the patch — solve it and the day’s card is yours.

How it goes

Walk with the arrow keys or WASD; on a phone, swipe or drag on the maze. P or Esc stops everything where it stands.

You can only see your own row. Down a clear row you can see to the end of it; through the corn you can see nothing at all. Everywhere you have walked stays on your map, drawn behind you as you go.

Find every punch post. They are scattered through the maze, well apart. The gate out opens once you have them all.

The punches are marked. Some days the five posts carry letters, some days numbers, and at the gate you have a few seconds to make something of them. The letters spell one word. The numbers have four that go up in equal steps and one that does not belong — put those four in order and the odd one at the end. Type it or tap the tiles, then hand it in.

Get it right and the day’s card is yours — a pumpkin, a scarecrow, a caramel apple; twelve in all, one for each day in turn. Premium keeps what you collect on a shelf you can come back to.

Finish the twelve and something bigger comes of it — the barn, the water tower, the silo, the tractor. Then the twelve go back out into the field and the next round begins. Four rounds, four big cards.

Keep an eye on the sky. The water tower, the silo and the barn stand above the corn and can be seen from anywhere — they are the only way to know where you are.

Be out before dark. The light goes as you walk, and what you can see goes with it.
